Best construction department to deal with. Everyone is kind and polite, do their best to accommodate you with the limited workforce available. It's hard to find inspectors and staff in every township, but they definitely do an outstanding job with the workers they have.

The ladies in the Raritan Construction Department seems to be trying their best to give the information required for permits approval. They set a turn around time of 20 business days and DO NOT expect anything before that, whether expediated, unless emergencies. They are also bias if a home owner chooses a contractor outside of local Flemington. People do projects based on their financial budgets. The system that is in place is ridiculous, the same inspectors that are reviewing permit applications are the ones going onsite, which in it self delays the permit approval process and creating inefficiencies towards businesses and homeowners. Stacks of applications just sit there awaiting his presence for review and approval. This is not a free service, businesses and homeowners have to pay for the permit and also an inspection fee. It is very evident that their work flow needs to be revised and extra set of inspectors needs to be added, especially in there "so called busy period. " Common sense will dictate that there should be s set of inspectors for permit review and approvals and another set that goes out for onsite inspections, eliminating the politics.
