Ji is the best! She always listens to my needs and does an amazing job every time. She knows exactly how to cut and style thick hair, and my styles last for days. She’s also one of the few hairstylists I’ve found who actually listens when I say I only want a little taken off during my routine trims! Her scalp massages have become part of my self-care routine, too. The owner Lauren is amazing, and the salon itself is so unique, with fun, eclectic decor. Not to mention, part of the business is also a vintage clothing store! Such a cool, welcoming space with so much personality.

Ji did my haircut today and she is AMAZING. I have not had my hair cut in a long time and I was very nervous about it. She listened to everything I wanted and had great input. She's not someone that will rush you through a service, she really took her time and made sure everything was perfect. Truly a 10/10 experience. She took my lifeless hair and transformed it into a bouncy textured dream. You can tell this is someone that truly enjoys their job and making others feel beautiful. I can't wait to go back to her. 🩷

The humans that work at this salon are beyond talented! It is an incredibly welcoming and affirming environment where you can see everyone is made to feel comfortable and safe! I go for cut and color and have never been disappointed! Lauren has hired a team of humans who strive for nothing less than the best. This is my favorite stop for some self-care! Highly recommend- you won't be disappointed!

Defiant Hair is a gem! A blessing to have queer friendly salon in the area that does more alt cuts. Mari always does an amazing job!! She's excellent at taking my ideas/hair inspiration photos and modifying them to my hair length and texture!

This place is such an amazing experience! I loved being able to shop through vintage clothes and cute little trinkets while waiting. The decor makes the experience feel so unique and elevated. Mari was totally amazing! Found her through the salon’s instagram and I’m so happy that I did! The other stylist at the salon are very kind and sweet as well. I’m so thankful for my hair cut and styling — 10/10 recommend if you’re looking for an alternative cut; also adding I have curly Latina hair and Mari styled my hair with great hair texture knowledge, as a Latina herself, and did an amazing job!!
